How We Score

Every product on this site is scored before it’s recommended. Here’s exactly what goes into that, not just a claim that we “test everything”.

Opportunity score

We weigh seven things, roughly in this order of importance:

• How often people actually search for it and how close that search is to a purchase decision — someone searching “which filter fits my Core 300” is closer to buying than someone browsing air purifiers in general.
• How often it needs replacing. This site is built around consumables — filters, litter, and similar recurring purchases — so a product you buy once a year scores lower than one you buy every few months.
• Value — price, pack size, and cost per replacement, not just the sticker price.
• How crowded the space already is, how much genuinely useful content we can write about it, and how stable demand for it is — a seasonal fad scores lower than something people need year-round.

A product needs a meaningfully high combined score before it gets a content queue slot at all — low scores get archived, not published anyway.

Compatibility confidence

For anything we say fits a specific device or model, we track where that claim came from — a manufacturer spec sheet, a verified cross-reference, or something still unverified — and how confident we are in it. A compatibility claim that hasn’t cleared verification is held back from publishing rather than shown as if it were confirmed. Getting this wrong means someone orders a part that doesn’t fit their device, which is why it gets its own check separate from everything else on the page.

What this doesn’t mean

A high score isn’t a guarantee, and it isn’t paid placement — nothing on this site is promoted because a brand paid for it. It’s our best structured estimate of which products are worth your time, built from real data about search demand, price, and verified compatibility, not editorial guesswork alone.
